Climbing on the Roaches!

This is your introduction to the world of climbing and the Roaches, our instructors will guide you through the movement and technical skills to help you safely scale the gritstone faces of the Roaches. This enjoyable experience will see you climbing up boulders, scaling and descending cliffs, and squeezing through the rock formations of the Roaches, all under the careful supervision of our experienced instructors, guiding and coaching you through the various challenges of the day.

Bouldering: Very low level climbing without ropes, usually on large boulders rather than cliffs, great to develop and test your technique.

Climbing: Test your skills and head for heights as you roped climb to the top of grit stone rock face.

Abseiling: Unleash your inner Cruise and lower yourself down the rock face to the security of terra firma.

Weaselling: Scrambling and squeezing around, over, under and through the boulders and rock formations of the Roaches.

Who is this activity for? Anyone from age 8 years old who would like to experience climbing, abseiling, and weaselling.

What we may cover: Introductions to climbing movements skills, Bouldering, tying-in to the rope, how to belay, and how to abseil. Weaselling and Scrambling over, under and around the wonderful rock formations.

What to Bring: Sturdy outdoor shoes, preferably walking shoes or boots. Warm and waterproof layers in case the weather turns, we will be outside the whole day. Any snacks and drinks you may want, there are no shops on the Roaches. A backpack suitable to carry all of your kit and food.

Duration: 3 hours

Where to meet: Roaches Gate. There is plenty of free parking within the marked bays. We will meet you at the main footpath entrance to the Roaches. Please note there are no public toilets nearby.

Requirements of the activity: you must be physically fit and able to walk up hill on uneven  No previous climbing experience is required. 

Afterwards: Why not continue the adventure down at the centre and experience one of the many water sports we have to offer. Multi activity day options at discounted rates also available, please enquire before the day of your event to see what other activities are on offer.

Cost: £45 per session inclusive of your instructor and all the equipment required. 10% discount when booking 4 or more places.
