Paddle Discover

This British Canoeing certificated half day course will allow you to build on developing your decision making and practical paddling skills, taking you on the next steps towards becoming a more proficient and independent paddler. You will learn how to choose and effectively use appropriate equipment as well as developing an understanding of the factors which might affect your paddling in the craft of your choice whether that be in Canoe/Kayak or SUP.

The Discover award will give you the confidence to begin progressing towards making your own choices and paddling independently and acts as a great stepping stone into the PADDLE EXPLORE AWARD.

All Kit and Equipment is provided such as Wetsuits, Buoyancy Aids, Boats, Paddles etc.

Who is this course for? Someone who has had their first experience on the water and want to deepen their knowledge and progress towards becoming an independent paddler.

What we may cover: Kit and equipment, launching and landing, effective forward paddling, turning, stopping, external factors to our paddling, safety of myself and others.

What To Bring: Swimwear or Quick Drying layers to go underneath a wetsuit, an old pair of shoes you don’t mind getting wet and a towel. Fleeces and wool jumpers are an additional layer that can be worn in winter times.

Craft: A choice of Canoe, Kayak, Sit on Top Kayak or Stand Up Paddleboard. Please let us know in the comments section of the booking form which craft you wish to use.

Duration: 3 Hrs per session (you can choose how many sessions you may need).

Afterwards: Why not enjoy a drink or snack from the centre whilst enjoying our fabulous views or hire some equipment out and practice all those new skills learnt. Multi activity day options at discounted rates also available, please enquire before the day of your event to see what other activities are on offer. 

Cost: £40 per session inclusive of your instructor and all the equipment required.
